About the role
- This role is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence three days per week.
- Please note: Due to the in-office requirement, we will only be considering candidates that are local to the Metro Detroit area at this time.

- Detroit Labs is looking for an experienced Senior AMS Analyst to join an exciting project with an existing automotive client that drives game-changing automotive technology. This role will work on connected vehicle services for customers owning vehicles with connected capabilities across the USA and Canada. These systems consist of several backend, frontend, and middleware applications. The systems integrate with the connectivity units inside the vehicle, and enable features like the ability to remotely start the vehicle, view parking locations, Alexa voice commands, and many more. As a full time member of our Staff by Detroit Labs team, we prioritize your individual career growth by providing optional check-in support, and optional team engagement events.
- Investigate, debug, and resolve application issues at the code level, primarily using Java, ensuring escalated tickets are fully resolved
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, troubleshoot, and implement fixes or enhancements to existing applications
- Own the lifecycle of escalated incidents from intake to resolution, including tracing, debugging, implementing fixes, and validating outcomes
- Perform system administration tasks such as certificate management, product version tracking, and upgrade support
- Monitor system health, analyze logs, report on performance, and address issues promptly to maintain application stability
- Develop and maintain accurate technical and user documentation related to AMS processes and fixes
- Communicate effectively with the user community regarding outages or incidents that impact their experience
- Analyze incidents to identify recurring patterns, propose improvements, and help reduce future occurrences
- Work in an agile/scrum environment, actively participating in ceremonies and contributing to sprint deliverables
- Provide accurate estimates, regular feedback, and meet project deadlines to ensure timely delivery of solutions
Requirements
- 5+ years of Java development experience, with strong skills in debugging, tracing, and fixing issues in production systems
- Experience working in Application Management Systems (AMS) or similar environments, taking ownership of escalated tickets through resolution
- Strong understanding of microservice architectures and system integration concepts (especially APIs)
- Ability to analyze logs, trace application flows, and perform root cause analysis across distributed systems
- Experience supporting and enhancing custom/internal applications
- Ability to create flow diagrams and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and knowledge sharing
- Customer-focused mindset; able to prioritize resolving issues quickly and effectively
- Experience performing operational tasks such as monitoring, analysis, and reporting to ensure system stability
- Strong technical background with solid understanding of IT systems and application support
- Automotive domain experience is a plus, especially connected vehicle systems
