About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure a fleet of drivers and vehicles adheres to all federal and state Department of Transportation regulations.
- Manage driver files, including physical exams, licenses, and insurance records.
- Ensure compliance with regulations like Hours of Service and conduct random drug and alcohol testing.
- Develop and implement safety programs, provide driver training, and perform performance evaluations.
- Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, registered, and compliant with safety standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records and assist with audits and investigations.
- Track and report on compliance metrics, including accident data and driver logs.
- Manage tolls.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service, driver qualifications, and hazardous materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and web-based systems like FMCSA's DataQ.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and organizational skills are crucial.
- Prior experience in transportation, logistics, or a compliance-related role is often preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field is frequently preferred, but not required; experience could override the bachelor's degree.
