About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver academic advising services to new and continuing CDM students
- Provide support to new and existing programs and services within the CDM Academic Success Center
- Serve as a generalist with knowledge of all CDM programs and manage an assigned student caseload
- Support faculty advising and provide academic advising and administrative services to continuing CDM students
- Review academic curricula, plan course sequences, assess academic progress, and review DePaul and transfer institution transcripts
- Support retention efforts for special student populations, including online learning students
- Help students use DePaul and CDM online academic management tools
- Refer students to University resources
- Interpret University policies and assist with petition processes for policy exceptions
- Assist with new student orientation, academic probation, and degree conferral processes
- Participate in academic advising week, academic success and career workshops, commencement, family weekend, open houses, and student recognition events
- Participate in professional development, technology training, and College and University committees
- Assist the Director with special assignments and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or higher required
- Previous academic advising experience preferred
- Knowledge of University operations
- Proven commitment to continual process improvement
- Professional standards of conduct, including a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality
- Knowledge of academic advising theory and practice
- Respect for diverse backgrounds
- Superior interpersonal, written communication, and group presentation skills
- Ability to manage large amounts of information and be detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Initiative, creativity, and teamwork
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle Cloud, web browsing, and PC applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Participation in the overall team effort for efficient department operations
