Key responsibilities & impact

Assists medical teams using endoscopes to diagnose or treat patients with gastrointestinal problems
Prepares the room, equipment, and assists during endoscopy procedures
Provides support to physicians and nurses while the procedure is underway
Handles specimens collected
Performs high level disinfection of endoscopy equipment
Processes patient intake
Prepares and disassembles rooms for procedures
Transports patient
Charts in medical record of physician observations and patient interactions
Collects patient biopsies and specimens
Assists physician and RN with invasive procedures and other duties to contribute to the flow of the unit
Assists physician in complicated procedures that utilize fluoroscopy

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or GED required
1-3 years of experience as a medical professional assisting patients and medical teams required
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association required
One of the following preferred: CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistants, LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse - LPC State Licensing Board, CNA-Certified Nurse Aide - ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center, EMTB-EMT Basic - CO - State of Colorado
Knowledge of Gastrointestinal procedures
Good hand-eye coordination, priority decision making skills, and organizational skills
Works well as a team player
Epic and Provation charting experience, preferred
Certifications that are applicable to Gastroenterology related to High Level Disinfection and/or Sterile processing, preferred
