About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assists medical teams using endoscopes to diagnose or treat patients with gastrointestinal problems
- Prepares the room, equipment, and assists during endoscopy procedures
- Provides support to physicians and nurses while the procedure is underway
- Handles specimens collected
- Performs high level disinfection of endoscopy equipment
- Processes patient intake
- Prepares and disassembles rooms for procedures
- Transports patient
- Charts in medical record of physician observations and patient interactions
- Collects patient biopsies and specimens
- Assists physician and RN with invasive procedures and other duties to contribute to the flow of the unit
- Assists physician in complicated procedures that utilize fluoroscopy
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of experience as a medical professional assisting patients and medical teams required
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association required
- One of the following preferred: CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistants, LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse - LPC State Licensing Board, CNA-Certified Nurse Aide - ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center, EMTB-EMT Basic - CO - State of Colorado
- Knowledge of Gastrointestinal procedures
- Good hand-eye coordination, priority decision making skills, and organizational skills
- Works well as a team player
- Epic and Provation charting experience, preferred
- Certifications that are applicable to Gastroenterology related to High Level Disinfection and/or Sterile processing, preferred
