Pharmacy Technician II – Correctional Care

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Performs introductory technical tasks in specialty areas such as medication histories, sterile and non-sterile preparation, payer adjudication, call center, clinical pharmacy support, inventory management including controlled substance handling and accountability, and repackaging.
- Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program completion of a pharmacy technician training program, preferred
- 1-3 Years of pharmacy technician in a healthcare or retail setting Required
- CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Required
- PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
- Ability to work as a team member
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
- Mathematical computation skills
- Organization and communication skills
- Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
- Ability to work independently within pharmacy scope of practice
- Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicable
- Proficiency with Microsoft® Office, preferred
