About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implementing and maintaining programs that protect the credit union's members, employees, assets, and information.
  • Maintaining physical security systems such as CCTV, alarm systems, and access control to facilities while ensuring they function properly.
  • Managing and updating employee access rights to facilities and approved security systems in accordance with established policies.
  • Conducting regular site security reviews and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective measures.
  • Serving as the primary contact with law enforcement regarding physical security incidents and onsite investigations.
  • Monitoring fraud detection systems to identify suspicious or high-risk activity often related to account fraud.
  • Investigating suspected or confirmed fraud cases, documenting findings, and coordinating recovery or prosecution efforts.
  • Communicating with members, merchants, and external partners to gather information relevant to fraud investigations.
  • Investigating allegations of elder financial exploitation and submitting reports to New Mexico Adult Protective Services when required.
  • Preparing reports summarizing fraud incidents, losses, recoveries, and emerging trends.
  • Providing security and fraud related training, resources, and guidance to staff to support organizational awareness.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; supporting audits and examinations related to security and fraud controls.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in security operations, fraud prevention, financial crimes investigation, or a related field within a financial institution or comparable regulated environment.
  • An associate degree in criminal justice, security management, Business Administration, or a comparable experience gained on the job.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level.
