About the role
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for RIS data migration.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze migration requirements.
- Extract clinical, operational, and administrative data from legacy RIS systems.
- Assess and map legacy data structures.
- Assist in assembling and loading RIS system’s master lists.
- Use ETL tools to clean, transform, and prepare data for migration.
- Provide post-migration support for product go-live implementations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams.
- Document the entire migration process.
- Train staff on how to manage, access, and use data in the new RIS system.
- Perform comprehensive validation to ensure data completeness and resolve inconsistencies.
- Conduct post-migration verification and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve migration-related issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, healthcare informatics, or related field; or equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years proven experience in data migration within a healthcare environment
- Hands-on experience with data manipulation and/or migration within RIS, PACS, HIS, and EMR systems.
- Proficiency in ETL processes, database structures, SQL, and healthcare data standards.
- Proficient SQL skills and experience with database management.
- Using skills above, work with various formats of data such as CSV and other delimited text files, Excel data, SQL databases, Word docs, BMP/JPG files, PDF files.
- Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to adapt to constantly changing projects
- Attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and security
- Proficiency in C# for Windows desktop programming or Python, or similar programming languages.
- Familiarity with Linux OS and scripting (Python, Pearl, VIM, BASH) to assist with ancillary data migrations taking place in Linux environments.
- Mirth skills, particularly with HL7
