About the role

  • Build backend services that bring AI capabilities to life inside Deel's Payroll workflows
  • Collaborate with ML engineers and operations to create real-world AI-powered tools
  • Integrate AI APIs into production backend systems
  • Design and maintain API integrations and backend services (JavaScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL)
  • Work with unstructured/messy data and build ETL pipelines and document parsing solutions
  • Contribute to Payroll Engineering team to deliver scalable, compliant payroll features

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in backend/full-stack engineering
  • JavaScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL experience
  • Strong API integration skills
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI APIs into production systems
  • Comfort working with unstructured/messy data and ETL pipelines
  • Python scripting experience for AI workflows (bonus)
  • Familiarity with OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic APIs (bonus)
  • Experience building chatbot or conversational interfaces (bonus)
  • Prompt engineering fundamentals (bonus)
  • Document/file parsing (CSV, PDF, Excel) (bonus)
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write) (application requires confirmation)
  • Ability to legally work in your country of residence (application requests work authorization information)
