About the role

  • Deel is the all-in-one payroll and HR platform for global teams, enabling payments and benefits across 150+ countries.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of 6–10 professionals with a 50% leadership / 50% hands-on technical balance.
  • Design, code, and deliver high-quality, scalable applications using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Provide mentorship, conduct thorough code reviews, and enforce best practices in development, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with product and design to create exceptional user experiences and align technical requirements with business objectives.
  • Drive technical planning and execution, promote Agile methodologies, and facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Define and implement technical strategies, lead rapid prototyping and iterative development, and mitigate technical risks.
  • Play an active role in hiring, performance management, and cultivating a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and engineering excellence.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and RESTful API design.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers, with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical acumen and a track record of building scalable, robust systems.
  • Proficiency in automated unit, functional, and integration testing.
  • Experience managing performance reviews and scaling teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Passion for exceptional user experiences, innovative problem-solving, and technical excellence.
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with attention to detail and thrive in environments requiring both technical expertise and leadership.
  • Bonus: experience with cross-browser and cross-platform development, contributions to open-source, knowledge of additional tech stacks.
