About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide support to the 24/7 Emergency Operations Center (EOC) staff
Serve as communication liaison between the EOC, supported CDC Centers, Institutes and Offices, outside federal agencies, health officials, and the public
Screen and triage response-related calls and transfer them to the appropriate subject matter expert
Receive, assess, and report response-related information according to SOPs and protocols
Use the EOC Database Support System (EDSS) for triage support and response protocol guidance
Document response-related calls in the CDC system and record call details and actions taken
Receive response-related reports and distribute them to internal and external partners as requested
Triage Requests for Information, Assistance, or Resources
Follow up on critical response actions on behalf of the Duty Officer and/or Senior Operations Officer
Track critical actions for monthly reports
Coordinate with response task forces and teams
Coordinate protocol and procedure updates related to incoming response-call triage
Maintain a Shift Change Log and participate in shift-change briefings

Requirements

What you’ll need

BA/BS in Public Health or similar with 2+ years of work experience, or 4+ years of work experience in an Emergency Operations Center environment
0–2 years of Operations Center experience required
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
Expertise in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Mail
Ability to communicate needs effectively during briefings to support operational strategy
Ability to follow precise protocols for disseminating information to callers
Ability to identify gaps in existing resources
Ability to multitask in emergency situations
Flexibility and a strong sense of urgency
Telephone, email, and business etiquette
Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Ability to follow protocols and procedures from provided instructions
Proactive problem-solving within proper channels and existing parameters
