About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform phlebotomy services for neonate to adult patients
  • Manage specimens
  • Perform EKG testing services
  • Independently perform waived laboratory tests and associated controls
  • Support Dayton Children’s Hospital locations, including main and south campuses, testing centers, Lab Link, Outreach, and other clinical sites
  • Travel to different Dayton Children’s Hospital locations as needed
  • Perform all aspects of QA/QC for the center’s laboratory and contents
  • Maintain laboratory standards and guidelines, including applicable regulatory requirements
  • Use Sunquest and applicable LIS functions
  • Register patients and transcribe orders in EPIC
  • Enter orders in the LIS
  • Maintain certification and training documentation and subsequent QA/QC monitoring
  • Uphold the integrity, quality, and reputation of Laboratory Services
  • Adhere to Dayton Children’s Hospital values

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • GED/high school diploma required
  • 0–2 years of experience required
  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire required
  • Phlebotomy Certificate required within one year of hire
  • Successful completion of the pediatric phlebotomy patient training program as provided
  • Working knowledge of Sunquest
  • Working knowledge of applicable LIS functions
  • Patient registration and order transcription in EPIC
  • Order entry in the LIS
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Capillary and venipuncture technique preferred
  • Specimen processing experience preferred
  • Patient registration experience preferred
  • Scheduling experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Ability to meet Dayton Children’s certification, training, and QA/QC requirements
