About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process all release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner
  • Safeguard patient privacy and ensure authorized access to medical information in compliance with company policy and HIPAA regulations
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
  • Adhere to company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
  • Inform the manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Manage, safeguard, assemble, and maintain accurate and complete patient health records
  • Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
  • Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls
  • Assist with patient walk-ins when needed
  • Assist with faxes, mail, and data entry
  • Meet site productivity expectations
  • Schedule pickups when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment regularly
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detail and quality oriented regarding accurate and compliant medical-record information
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision while responding to changing priorities and role needs
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is a bonus
  • Previous production/metric-based work experience is a bonus
  • In-person customer service experience is a bonus
  • Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers is a bonus
  • Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders is a bonus
  • This job is not eligible for employment sponsorship
