About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process all release of information requests, specifically medical record requests, accurately and efficiently
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged patient information
  • Apply medical privacy regulations and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Manage, safeguard, assemble, and complete patient health records
  • Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
  • Create digital images of paperwork for storage in electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys
  • Provide medical record status updates and customer service
  • Document information across multiple platforms using two computer monitors
  • Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Assist with walk-ins, faxes, mail handling, data entry, pickup scheduling, and other administrative duties as needed
  • Meet site-specific productivity expectations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detail- and quality-oriented approach to accurate, compliant medical records
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
