About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process all release of information requests, specifically medical record requests, accurately and efficiently
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
  • Maintain knowledge of company and facility software
  • Follow company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
  • Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Manage and safeguard patient health records in compliance with HIPAA
  • Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
  • Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure they are accurate and complete
  • Create digital images of paperwork for storage in electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls
  • Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry
  • Meet site-specific productivity expectations
  • Schedule pick-ups as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment regularly
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detail and quality oriented regarding accurate and compliant medical-record information
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a healthcare environment (bonus)
  • Previous production/metric-based work experience (bonus)
  • In-person customer service experience (bonus)
  • Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers (bonus)
  • Ability to bring new ideas, process-improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders (bonus)
