About the role

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the supported application systems
  • Handle service requests and incidents
  • Analyze disruptions and implement sustainable fixes
  • Contribute ideas for system improvements and actively optimize and automate existing applications
  • Continuously further develop systems based on functional, technical and regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with other mainframe system engineers, business analysts and the operational teams at end customers
  • Prepare detailed requirements, specifications and program code
  • Regularly test program code and thoroughly document developments

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science / Business Informatics or comparable qualification
  • Professional experience with software tools such as IBM ISPF, IBM IMS/DC, IBM RACF, IBM TWS/OPC, IBM RD/z, Compuware FileAid, Compuware Xpediter or Atlassian JIRA
  • Practical hands-on experience with IBM Job Control Language (JCL), COBOL and SQL
  • Ideally experience with IBM REXX and PL/1 (not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of IBM Db2 on the mainframe
  • Familiarity with the z/OS and Windows operating systems
  • Ideally experience in the insurance industry
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Structured, analytical and self-directed way of working
  • Very good German language skills, spoken and written (C1 level)
