About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build, support, and guide solutions across data engineering, automation, advanced analytics, reporting, and visualization
  • Apply data engineering concepts, data modeling, and database knowledge to solve complex business challenges
  • Develop and configure standardized enterprise AI platform solutions for Detroit
  • Define and document roles, responsibilities, ownership, security controls, and operational support across AI platforms
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and governance teams on endpoints, firewalls, IAM roles, and access patterns
  • Design and implement AI/ML pipelines and workflows with technical and business teams
  • Document end-to-end AI architecture, including ingestion, processing, orchestration, model execution, integrations, and dependencies
  • Identify AI/ML, automation, analytics, and business intelligence use cases that improve performance and decision-making
  • Evaluate AI platform performance, scalability, token usage, compute consumption, and costs
  • Partner with AI adoption teams as the technical counterpart to enablement initiatives
  • Lead and coordinate medium- to large-scale DDC AI and data technology initiatives
  • Manage project scope, dependencies, risks, stakeholders, communications, and delivery milestones
  • Recommend improvements to standards, tooling, workflows, and solution delivery practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or 5–8 years of relevant experience in related roles
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience when substituting experience for the degree
  • Working understanding of AI/ML concepts, LLMs, prompt-based systems, tokens, GenAI, automation, BI, and agentic approaches
  • Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Snowflake Cortex, OpenAI-based tools, or similar enterprise AI platforms
  • Proficiency or strong working knowledge of database concepts, data modeling, data extraction, and transformation
  • Experience with Power BI or comparable enterprise analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environments, access provisioning, network dependencies, IAM roles, and enterprise security considerations
  • Knowledge of data governance, information security, enterprise standards, policies, and sensitive-data protection
  • Ability to evaluate trade-offs involving architecture, user experience, speed to value, risk, cost, scalability, maintainability, and governance
  • Strong project leadership skills for complex department-level and cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate complex AI, data, and technical concepts into clear business language
  • Ability to align Detroit, DTNA, and Global stakeholders around standards, ownership, and implementation decisions
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work effectively in ambiguous situations
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen

  • Exceptional candidates may have enterprise AI platform, production AI/ML, AI pipeline, cost governance, manufacturing, or automotive experience
