Key responsibilities & impact
  • Designing and developing advanced diagnostic systems for automotive electrical and electronic components
  • Creating diagnostic strategies, tools, and software architectures that efficiently detect, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic system issues in vehicles
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and vehicle manufacturers
  • Ensuring seamless integration of diagnostic solutions within the vehicle’s overall electronic architecture including telematics and offboard solutions
  • Performing diagnostic validation activities, including vehicle testing, manufacturing validation, and service readiness
  • Analyzing field data, warranty trends, and diagnostic feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Supporting service and after-sales organizations with effective diagnostic solutions that reduce repair time and warranty cost
  • Developing and improving processes to ensure quality of vehicle diagnostic requirements definition and implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience in implementation of secure diagnostics over CAN, LIN and ETH, which includes data logging, monitoring and seamless integration with vehicle ECUs.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy duty vehicle diagnostics.
  • 3+ years of experience applying automotive Cyber Security principles and secure coding practices.
  • In depth experience of applying industry standards and regulations related to automotive diagnostics.
  • Experience authoring comprehensive documentation, classification, and management of DTCs, as well as health status and fault memory of vehicle systems and ECUs.
  • 2+ years of experience in implementation of diagnostics protocols (UDS, SOVD) and communication protocols (CAN, Eth).
  • 3+ years of experience in designing diagnostic applications and interfaces for ECUs, ensuring secure communication and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of implementing over-the-air and service-based software updates.
  • Proficiency in creating user-friendly interfaces for diagnostics tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of product (Vehicle) to develop and execute test cases to evaluate diagnostics system functionality and effectiveness.
  • Document validation and verification reports to ensure diagnostic accuracy, reliability and safety.
  • Creating tools for fault simulation and injection to test diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements from North America and EU such as RMI (EU 2018/858), SUMS (UNECE R156), CSMC (UN ECE R155) etc.
  • Knowledge of practical application of Engineering principles with proven ability to apply technologies, techniques, procedures and equipment to design and production of vehicle electronic systems or related engineered components.
  • 2+ years of experience with automotive ECU diagnostic communication protocols (CAN, UDS), development tools (ODX Studio, CANdela Studio) and Data format (ODX).
