About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development, validation, & release of aftertreatment OBD control strategies
- Understand and interpret emissions and OBD regulations in context of how the requirements will be fulfilled by Detroit engines and aftertreatments sold in the U.S. and abroad
- Assess aftertreatment performance and emissions margin by reviewing data gathered in performance test cells, durability, engineering vehicles and the reliability growth fleet
- Lead and implement test and report automation initiatives to improve test efficiency
- Establish test procedures (including instrumentation, fixturing, test environment) to fulfill DVPR requirements
- Utilize structured problem solving methods to identify root cause and integrate corrective actions into new or existing aftertreatment software
- Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations of technical results to the management team
- Generate ideas to reduce product cost and improve quality
- Create project plans and timelines, and assist management with defining budget requirements
- Promptly resolve plant issues and field problems
- Lead cross-functional activities with regional and Global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Suppliers
- Communicate effectively and maintain professional/social interaction in a multi-cultural and International environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited University)
- 2+ years of relevant experience in the Automotive, or Commercial Vehicle Industry
- Experience interpreting requirements and developing control strategies to fulfill the requirements
- 2+ years of experience utilizing MATLAB Simulink for modeling and development
- 2+ years of programming experience to automate data processing and reporting
- Strong electrical or mechanical aptitude
- Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
- Strong interpersonal skills and able to work with and get work done effectively through others
- Ability to think independently and critically to formulate plans and make decisions in a fast paced, emerging and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and inform management of any barriers
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong PC skills including MS Office and database tools
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%
