About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead development, validation, & release of aftertreatment OBD control strategies
Understand and interpret emissions and OBD regulations in context of how the requirements will be fulfilled by Detroit engines and aftertreatments sold in the U.S. and abroad
Assess aftertreatment performance and emissions margin by reviewing data gathered in performance test cells, durability, engineering vehicles and the reliability growth fleet
Lead and implement test and report automation initiatives to improve test efficiency
Establish test procedures (including instrumentation, fixturing, test environment) to fulfill DVPR requirements
Utilize structured problem solving methods to identify root cause and integrate corrective actions into new or existing aftertreatment software
Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations of technical results to the management team
Generate ideas to reduce product cost and improve quality
Create project plans and timelines, and assist management with defining budget requirements
Promptly resolve plant issues and field problems
Lead cross-functional activities with regional and Global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Suppliers
Communicate effectively and maintain professional/social interaction in a multi-cultural and International environment

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited University)
2+ years of relevant experience in the Automotive, or Commercial Vehicle Industry
Experience interpreting requirements and developing control strategies to fulfill the requirements
2+ years of experience utilizing MATLAB Simulink for modeling and development
2+ years of programming experience to automate data processing and reporting
Strong electrical or mechanical aptitude
Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
Strong interpersonal skills and able to work with and get work done effectively through others
Ability to think independently and critically to formulate plans and make decisions in a fast paced, emerging and sometimes ambiguous environment
Ability to manage multiple projects and inform management of any barriers
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Strong PC skills including MS Office and database tools
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%
