About the role

  • Responsible for the (labor) legal coordination and associated advisory services for the DAAD's external network (branch offices, German Science and Innovation Houses, Heinrich-Heine-Haus)
  • Clarify labor and social security law questions concerning locally employed staff at currently 20 locations
  • Assist with the alignment of standard employment contracts and supplementary agreements
  • Handle personnel-related matters such as recruitments, fixed-term contracts, disciplinary proceedings, terminations, and issues related to maternity protection and parental leave
  • Review contracts and compensation structures for new hires
  • Manage communication with external law firms abroad
  • Coordinate employment contracts and remuneration arrangements with the respective foreign representations (embassies/consulates-general)
  • Advise locally employed managers on labor law matters
  • Monitor legal developments abroad

Requirements

  • Completed university degree in law (First State Examination, Master’s/LL.M.); preferably with a focus on international labor law or human resource management
  • Experience in international organizations or in supporting foreign company branches or similar
  • Willingness and ability to familiarize yourself with new areas of law
  • Very good English skills, both written and spoken
  • Proficient user of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Analytical thinking and an independent, structured working style
  • Good communication skills and strong intercultural competence
  • Resilience, reliability, negotiation skills, a convincing manner, organizational ability, and team orientation
  • Experience with compliance matters and change management, foreign tenancy law, and powers of attorney abroad
  • Knowledge of an additional foreign language
