About the role
- Supports federal client programs with enterprise network modernization (e.g., SD-WAN, secure wireless, identity services)
- Supports technical capability rollouts requiring user adoption at scale
- Integration with USCG training commands and technical schools
- Lead end-to-end journey mapping for USCG users across afloat (cutter environments), shore units and command centers
- Identify friction points in system access, training gaps and workflow inefficiencies
- Translate operational workflows into UX requirements, system improvements and training needs
- Design and develop technical training programs aligned to client mission workflows and operational environments
- Integrate solutions into technical schools and training pipelines
- Develop instructor-led training (ILT), computer-based training (CBT) and quick reference guides / SOPs
- Embed UX and training into the delivery lifecycle: Design ? Build ? Validate ? Train ? Deploy ? Sustain
- Ensure training is not an afterthought, but part of system engineering
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Human-Centered Design, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field
- 7-10+ years of experience across a combination of UX/UI Design, Instructional Design/Training Development and Application Development
- Experience supporting federal environments and technical system rollouts requiring training and adoption
- Ability to translate complex technical systems into intuitive user experiences
- Strong instructional design capability tied to mission workflows
- Excellent communication skills with both operators and engineers
- Field-oriented mindset with ability to gather real-world insights
- Bias toward practical, adoptable solutions - not theoretical designs
- Active Secret clearance or higher
- Experience with UX tools (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.)
- Journey mapping and user research methodologies
- Application development experience
- Web applications (React, Angular, or similar)
- Backend integration (APIs, microservices)
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning development tools (Articulate, Captivate, etc.)
- DoD 8570/8140 baseline: CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent)
