About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the accounting function for assigned client accounts
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely financial records
Perform and oversee full-cycle accounting processes
Review financial statements, supporting schedules, journal entries, financial notes, and financial packages
Perform P&L scrubs and balance sheet reviews
Own month-end close timelines and checklists
Complete technical QA and ensure accuracy of balance sheet workbooks
Lead, mentor, coach, and develop Staff Accountants
Manage performance for direct reports, including corrective action and escalation
Review customer invoicing, vendor bills, payroll, cash flow forecasts, and collections issues
Complete quarterly 941 reconciliations and sales tax returns
Coordinate, review, and submit annual 1099s and client personal property tax filings
Develop, improve, maintain, and document accounting processes and controls
Set up and sync accounting programs and tools and review third-party application mappings
Monitor for fraud and escalate concerns
Improve efficiency, scalability, cost savings, and profitability
Communicate proactively with Controllers, client stakeholders, and accounting team members
Provide updates on accounting activity, priorities, risks, delays, and outstanding items

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong full-cycle accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting
Experience managing accounting for multiple companies or clients simultaneously
Experience in fractional, outsourced, public accounting, CAS, accounting firm, agency, or multi-entity environments
Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
Experience reviewing accounting work completed by others
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
Experience with QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based accounting systems is a bonus
Experience managing and developing Staff Accountants is a bonus
Experience working directly with Controllers or CFOs is a bonus
Experience building or improving accounting SOPs is a bonus
Experience with accounting automation and integrations is a bonus
