About the role
- Play a key role within the Sourcing group, leading the team responsible for securing various commodities/services
- Ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost of goods
- Direct the activities of buyers and support personnel to accomplish company objectives
- Develop policies and procedures for the continuous improvement of procurement activities
- Negotiate major contracts and supply agreements with suppliers
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure compliance with Government-approved Purchasing System
- Gain knowledge of supplier operations, supply chain vulnerabilities, and performance metrics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
- 10 - 12 years of purchasing experience
- Master’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
- ISM (CPSM, C.P.M.) or other nationally-recognized certification in procurement is preferred
- At least 4 years of supervisory experience in the Defense or Commercial Nuclear industry
- Strong knowledge and experience with Government contracting practices
- Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts
- Planning, negotiation, and execution skills
- Demonstrated success in driving cost reductions and superior customer service
- Knowledge and experience with Lean/Six Sigma problem-solving tools and concepts
- Excellent organization, communication (written and oral), time management, and presentation skills
- Comfortable presenting to, and interfacing with, Senior Leaders; comfortable with ambiguity
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
