About the role

  • The Defense Division for Curtiss Wright is looking for a Group Controller who has proven success in driving business forward!
  • This role is the critical business partner to our Group General Manager for a group of business units representing approximately $300M in revenue.
  • Reporting to the Segment Controller and working with minimal supervision, the Group Controller is responsible for the overall coordination of the financial activities of the business units including: the annual budget process, month end close, forecasting, year-end audits and internal reporting to Senior Management.
  • You will also have responsibilities for review/approval of general accounting for your team.
  • The Company uses a Shared Services model for some of the business units within the group.
  • This position will be required to coordinate with the Shared Services teams to ensure proper accounting and reconciliations are performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Financial Management disciplines, or equivalent Professional designation in Accounting or MBA required
  • 10-15 years diverse financial experience in various finance / accounting roles with practical experience within a manufacturing environment across both government /commercials business
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written
  • Excellent technical ability, including ability to work with integrated ERP systems preferably SAP
  • Requires good problem-solving skills using initiative and innovation to resolve discrepancies
  • Willingness to travel if required
  • Demonstrated skills in teaching, leading and mentoring
  • Thorough understanding of general and cost accounting principles and practices; Must be able to work with Excel/Word and PowerPoint; Able to work effectively as part of a team, ability to work with cross-functional teams and to train staff to follow procedures and use system tools;
  • Ability to embrace change with enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
