About the role

  • Foster the growth and development of additive manufacturing at EMD.
  • Evolve the processing, designing, qualification of AM components.
  • Lead communications with project teams and respective customers.
  • Work with project teams to understand needs and drive the execution of material qualifications and designs.
  • Seek new advanced ways to improve and evolve additive manufacturing processes.
  • Mentor and aid in the development of less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years work experience in engineering support of heavy component manufacturing including joining and machining operations.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities with excellent communication.
  • Relationships with external subject matter experts within the industry and customer base to support additive manufacturing implementation.
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers towards the additive manufacturing strategic goals at EMD.
  • Practical experience with various additive manufacturing processes parameters, material properties, qualification standards, and metallurgical analysis techniques.
  • Goal-oriented, results driven, problem-solving attitude.
  • Demonstrated project planning skills and understanding of cost and schedule implications.
  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
