About the role
- Works closely with company management to fully explain and reconcile published financial results with planned results as well as proactively identifies areas of risk or opportunity that warrant management attention.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory or governmental requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Prepare monthly forecast updates – including responsibility for rolling forecasts.
- Oversight of Program Finance including estimating, cost reporting, development of program control processes, participating in internal program reviews and providing manpower requirement analysis for both R&D and non-recurring engineering projects.
- Directs and co-ordinates the activities of the company’s finance and accounting staff in areas of responsibility areas including general accounting and business support functions.
- Provides training and guidance to finance and accounting staff.
- Completes monthly analysis and reporting of key operational metrics.
- Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly and year end financial statements and reporting packages for the entity.
- Encourages brainstorming and creative approaches to enhance company’s growth, worth and profitability.
- Participate in acquisitions associated with Defense as required as well as lead financial integration for any acquisitions which occur within the Group.
- Aid in the implementation of S4 Hana for the Group in conjunction with the Director of Group Finance for Defense and our SAP team.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in financial management discipline, or equivalent
- Professional Accounting designation (CPA preferred) or MBA required
- 10-15 years diverse financial experience in various finance / accounting roles with practical experience within a manufacturing environment across both government / commercial business
- Strong manufacturing and standard costing background
- Excellent technical ability, including ability to work with integrated ERP systems preferably SAP
- Requires good problem-solving skills using initiative and innovation to resolve discrepancies
- Willingness to travel if required
- Demonstrated skills in teaching, leading and mentoring
- Thorough understanding of general and cost accounting principles and practices
- Must be able to work with Excel/Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, ability to work with cross-functional teams and to train staff to follow procedures and use system tools
- Ability to embrace change with enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills -both verbal and written.
