About the role
- Work with Finance and serve as a point of contact within the policy team to identify, describe, resolve, consult and document complex accounting issues and transactions.
- Prepare and lead technical accounting trainings specific to the business unit.
- Analyze financial data by evaluating results and solutions to support business decisions.
- Utilize knowledge with Financial Reporting to prepare and present financial information by summarizing data to communicate results in compliance with regulations and stakeholder expectations.
- Partner with stakeholders to drive financial performance that aligns to organizational goals and strategies.
- Responsible for performing and overseeing highly specialized accounting work required to maintain the department’s general ledger.
- Review and provide guidance on the accounting for revenue transactions over the defined threshold in the accounting policy.
- Initiate and document memos related to any policy exemptions and coordinate approval with the Corporate Policy team.
- Participate on project teams for ensuring timely implementation of new US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) requirements.
- Work on projects in conjunction with finance system improvements and assist the Global Internal Controls team on control initiatives for the business unit.
- Interpret highly complex financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities and risks and ensure integrity of financial data by investigating variances and determining corrective actions to resolve identified issues.
- Leverage internal control framework by assessing internal controls and developing remediation plans to mitigate financial reporting risks and respond to changing business needs.
- Evaluate and research transactions to ensure recorded in compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.
- Summarize technical accounting assessments by documenting accounting requirements, considerations and conclusions in accounting memos to communicate assessment results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Respond to inquiries received from management, internal and external auditors, Sarbanes-Oxley audit group and others regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
- Make and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Implement new accounting standards and protect the organization’s values by keeping information confidential.
Requirements
- Positions require a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics or related field and 3 years of experience as a Financial Analyst, Accountant, Auditor or related position.
- Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics or related field and 5 years of experience as a Financial Analyst, Accountant, Auditor or related position.
- Experience to include: Financial Reporting; Maintain the general ledger; US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP); Financial and variance analysis; Financial Internal Controls; Technical Accounting Assessment; Technical Accounting Documentation; Sarbanes-Oxley; Improve accounting processes.
