About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide in-home infusion therapy with regular travel to and from patient residences
  • Administer prescribed specialty medications through intravenous, subcutaneous, or other appropriate routes
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after infusions for adverse reactions or complications
  • Conduct pre-treatment assessments, including medical history, allergies, and current medications
  • Evaluate physical condition and vital signs throughout infusion procedures
  • Identify, document, and communicate risks, adverse reactions, and complications
  • Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, treatment expectations, and emergency responses
  • Conduct follow-up calls or visits to assess progress and delayed side effects
  • Provide clinical feedback and collaborate on care-plan adjustments
  • Maintain accurate infusion, medication administration, patient education, and follow-up documentation
  • Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy staff on coordinated patient care
  • Communicate treatment concerns and patient responses to the Clinical Nurse Supervisor
  • Prepare and handle medications according to safety and regulatory protocols
  • Verify medication, dosage, sterile technique, infection control, and procedural safety
  • Monitor specialty medication and infusion-supply inventory and coordinate replenishment
  • Support insurance verification and prior authorization processes
  • If assigned and IgCN-certified, mentor nurses, support training, observe clinical practice, assess competency, and document mentorship activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • College degree/certification required or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of RN experience required
  • 1 year of experience accessing PIV lines, ports, and maintaining PICC lines required
  • ER/ICU/infusion experience preferred
  • 1 year of hospital or home-health infusion experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Automobile insurance coverage
  • Reliable automobile
  • Ability to multitask and frequently change direction
  • Willingness to travel up to 2 hours from New Orleans/Baton Rouge to patient homes
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
  • Active IgCN certification may be required for assigned mentorship responsibilities
