About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and manage the full month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Maintain the general ledger in QuickBooks Online (QBO) with a high degree of accuracy
  • Drive the organization toward audit-ready financial reporting standards within the first year
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports for review by the Head of Finance and senior leadership
  • Monitor daily accounting operations to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies proactively
  • Assess the current A/P process and lead the evaluation and implementation of an A/P automation solution (e.g., Stampli or comparable platform)
  • Build trust and strong working relationships with the existing accounting team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited four-year institution (required)
  • 10 plus years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of month-end close and financial reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) or a comparable accounting system
  • Proven ability to assess, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Experience working with or managing A/P and A/R functions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when working with sensitive financial information
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • CPA license or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred
  • Experience preparing or supporting a company through a financial statement audit
  • Familiarity with A/P automation platforms such as Stampli, Bill.com, or comparable tools
