About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and drive the full month-end close process, ensuring completion within established timelines
- Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries including accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, and reclassifications
- Record and maintain fixed asset entries, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
- Prepare monthly cash flow statements and forecasts; monitor net working capital trends
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger; research and resolve discrepancies
- Perform cash and bank reconciliations; support AP and AR functions as needed
- Reconcile and report intercompany receivables and payables
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax filings and returns (e.g., Ohio CAT and other applicable state/local filings)
- Research and analyze budget-to-actual variances; prepare executive-level results summaries and financial commentary for senior leadership
- Support the external audit process; prepare requested schedules, reconciliations, and documentation
- Lead or support process improvement initiatives within the accounting department
- Support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 3 plus years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 or large regional public accounting firm experience strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience supporting internal and external financial audits; solid understanding of cash flow and networking capital
- Demonstrated experience owning month-end close and preparing complex journal entries independently
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data modeling; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with ERP/general ledger accounting software (e.g., Sage X3, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement; ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across multiple geographies
