About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide underwriting with pre-quote transaction support
  • Validate data entry in underwriting workbooks and systems
  • Verify documentation regarding coverage and limits before completing transactions
  • Communicate with producers to obtain required information
  • Review and process bind orders before policy issuance
  • Draft policies, verify data accuracy, approve drafts within authority, and set up electronic records
  • Follow up for underwriter approval on accounts outside authority
  • Book premiums and confirm proper posting
  • Issue approved policies and review underlying policies
  • Report policy data to Workers Compensation bureaus and the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Resolve reporting-agency criticisms promptly
  • Process subjectivity and inspection follow-up, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements
  • Collaborate with internal departments to answer policy questions and resolve issues
  • Identify process-streamlining opportunities
  • Review and report on monthly Pended Transaction and Un-mailed reports by Profit Center
  • Maintain cross-training capabilities for other Profit Centers
  • Perform other assigned duties and special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong expertise in surplus lines policy issuance and post-bind operations
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Solid computer skills, including Word, Excel, email, and internet-based technology
  • Excellent math and data analysis skills
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate report data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move quickly between projects
  • Ability to review and interpret complex data
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies and resolve issues
  • High accuracy in reviewing documents, entering data, and processing transactions
  • Ability to ensure information is complete, correct, and compliant with company standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to ask clarifying questions and provide updates
  • Ability to collaborate with underwriters, assistants, and cross-functional teams
