About the role
- Turn complex data into actionable insights for the Surplus & Specialty Team by designing and developing data solutions
- Perform and document data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design
- Conceptualize and implement ETL processes within Snowflake using Procedures, Tasks, Dynamic Tables, etc.
- Support Data Analysts by building high performing queries for reporting
- Work with other departments to provide data solutions (Data Marts, Ad Hoc Queries)
- Conduct unit tests and develop database queries to analyze effects and troubleshoot issues
- Communicate with all levels of the organization to design and develop data solutions
- Utilize JIRA to track and manage task progress within weekly sprints
Requirements
- Bachelors in mathematics, computer science, information systems, or related field
- 5+ years of extensive work experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, etc.)
- Experience developing solutions (procedures, functions, views, ETL processes, etc.) using complex SQL concepts
- Knowledge of techniques used for query efficiency (Time & Cost)
- Experience with Snowflake (queries, procedures, functions, tasks) preferred
- Experience conceptualizing, developing, and documenting data solutions
- Experience implementing ETL processes within Snowflake (Procedures, Tasks, Dynamic Tables)
- Experience supporting Data Analysts with high-performing queries for reporting
- Experience working with Data Marts and Ad Hoc queries
- Experience conducting unit tests and troubleshooting database issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using JIRA to track/manage tasks and sprints
- Desired: Insurance industry knowledge
- Desired: Experience with data manipulation tools (Python, R)
