About the role
- Develop working knowledge of multiple internal (direct and ceded) data systems and warehouses
- Compile and analyze large sets of data, and identify anomalies and errors
- Interpret reinsurance contract terms for processing, and identify items requiring manual monitoring/handling
- Communicate with the Ceded Reinsurance department on recent and upcoming treaty placements to develop an understanding of system needs
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, claims, and financial departments on reinsurance activity
- Enter contract details from treaty and automatic facultative placements into reinsurance systems
- Perform premium and loss reconciliations on treaty reinsurance agreements and investigate, resolve and report any discrepancies
- Track and calculate manual adjustments to ceded premium and loss and maintain historical treaty matrix summaries
- Perform system testing of reinsurance systems, data warehouses, and earned premium calculations where applicable
Requirements
- Experience in property and casualty insurance preferred
- College degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- Strong working experience with Microsoft Excel and Access preferred
- Ability to write SQL queries and work with Power Query is a plus
- Ability to manipulate large data sets and identify inconsistencies
- Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, and organizational skills
- Independent thinker who can work with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented with ability to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
