About the role
- Manage a pending of at least 70 claims arising from property, physical damage, and cargo
- Operate under appropriate levels of supervision and within established authority
- Verify and determine applicability of coverage
- Determine the method and extent of investigation for each claim as required by company Best Practices
- Review and manage outstanding files, as assigned, for adequacy and timeliness of investigation, evaluation and reserve
- Assign, and monitor independent adjusters, to ensure adequate investigations, appraisals, and settlements
- Evaluate and adjust claims within the adjuster’s authority level
- Report directly on technical matters to manager
- Evaluate and manage litigated claims, determines future course of handling and proper method of disposition
- Consult with the claim manager on claims needing assistance and consultation
- Assess recovery potential and develop information required to pursue recovery
- Accountable for equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience handling first and third party property damage claims
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Designation and/or insurance related courses are a plus
- Obtain and maintain required state licenses
- Experience in subrogation preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
