About the role
- Performs technical and operational support for the firm’s networks and server infrastructure.
- Implements security, operational patches and firmware updates to the firm’s firewall’s infrastructure, and other network equipment.
- Collaborates with other staff professionals on day-to-day tasks and special projects.
- Works with other technology groups internally and externally to resolve network issues, recommend networking configurations, and supports the connectivity for all the firm’s offices, applications, and equipment.
- Responds to alerts from monitoring tools to ensure the overall health of the network.
- Flexibility to assist with network issues after hours and on weekends, on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networks and related technologies such as VLANs, wireless access points, network cabling, IP addressing and subnetting.
- Ability to communicate with internet service providers and other vendors to troubleshoot and escalate connectivity and outages.
- Design and maintain network diagrams using Microsoft Visio or other mapping tools.
- Packet capture technologies such as Wireshark or Zeek.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with our end-users, vendors, and the public.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge or guidance, analyze and interpret data from several sources, solve problems by applying precedent or extrapolating from previous experience.
- Ability to document "Procedures and Instructions" in a technical format.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently as an individual and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
- Ability to safely lift, move and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
