About the role

  • Serve clients within the “Office of the CFO” at Private Equity portfolio companies, creating a diagnostic framework and enhancing the effectiveness of the finance function.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with portfolio company representatives and Private Equity sponsors, collaborating with CrossCountry team members to scope, clarify, and deliver excellent client service.
  • Identify new growth and shared revenue opportunities, collaborating with leadership to help expand the FP&A capability offering.
  • Overseeing end-to-end delivery of FP&A engagements including scoping, staffing, client communication and quality control.
  • Providing strategic thought leadership and engagement oversight across concurrent engagements that may include forecasting and budgeting redesign, cash flow and liquidity management, performance reporting and KPI frameworks, interim FP&A support roles, and finance function diagnostics.
  • Developing and enhance repeatable delivery ‘playbooks’, templates, tools and methodologies to help scale practice.
  • Identifying key industry developments and trends and articulating potential impact on clients.
  • Contributing to developing and implementing firm-approved, AI-enabled solutions for clients, in accordance with company policies on data protection, intellectual property, and professional standards.
  • Leading coaching family by serving as a role model, coach, mentor, and liaison to the leadership team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of senior FP&A and/or consulting experience, with significant exposure to middle-market Private Equity owned businesses.
  • Experience addressing the unique requirements of the Private Equity consulting environment including knowledge about the relationship between Private Equity sponsors and their portfolio companies.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and setting standards for high-performing FP&A teams.
  • Diverse industry experience that may include manufacturing, SaaS, healthcare, and business services among others.
  • Strong understanding of cash flow dynamics, debt structures & covenant reporting, value creation plans and exit and diligence processes.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills paired with judgement to keep models practical and decision focused.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in leading and implementing best practices to optimize finance functions.
  • Knowledge of key technology solutions within the Office of the CFO, including leading ERP and EPM platforms.
  • Experience with or significant exposure to various data analytics tools such as: Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL, Python, etc.
  • Comfort with AI: Demonstrated ability to responsibly explore and adopt firm-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Continuous Learning Mindset: Openness to learning and applying emerging technologies including AI and automation in alignment with firm policies and client standards.
  • Proven ability to generate leads from a network outside of existing client work.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members and helping project teams resolve multi-faceted issues.
