About the role
- Document Drafting: Draft discovery responses, briefs, and other complex legal documents with precision and clarity.
- Client Collaboration: Communicate with clients to gather important information and documents needed for case progress.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and attorney decisions.
- Filing Coordination: Manage court filings and ensure all legal documents are submitted accurately and on time.
- Attorney Support: Work alongside attorneys to handle active matters, optimizing their workload and procedural flow.
- Paralegal Tasks: Perform advanced paralegal functions, contributing substantively beyond administrative duties.
- Workload Expectations: Maintain a consistent workload aligned with full-time billing expectations, ensuring timely completion of assignments and responsiveness to attorney needs.
- Case Ownership: Support matters from intake through final resolution, including motion practice, filings, and ongoing case development.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Communicate regularly with clients, administrative agencies, and opposing counsel to gather information, coordinate next steps, and ensure cases progress efficiently.
- Organization & Case Management: Maintain organized digital files, track deadlines, and ensure timely updates across all active matters.
Requirements
- Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years working within a U.S. law firm, with significant legal document drafting experience.
- Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal procedures, ideally with exposure to employment law.
- Research Skills: Proven ability in conducting comprehensive legal research efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities for effective client and team interactions.
- Remote Work Proficiency: Capable of working independently in a remote environment with minimal direction, while maintaining clear communication and accountability with attorneys and team members.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with MyCase, Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Dropbox, and Google Workspace is preferred. Experience with e-filing systems such as EEOC Public Portal or MSPB e-Appeal is a plus.
- Ownership & Initiative: Ability to take assignments and execute with minimal supervision, demonstrating the ability to independently move work forward without waiting for step-by-step direction.
- Work Style: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Spanish Proficiency: Not required but a plus.
