About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Document Patient Encounters: Accurately and efficiently transcribe medical histories, physical examinations, diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans during patient visits.
- Manage Electronic Health Records (EHR): Update and maintain patient records in the EHR system, ensuring all information is complete and accurately recorded.
- Real-Time Data Entry: Enter patient information into the EHR system in real-time, supporting healthcare providers during consultations.
- Coordinate with Medical Team: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure seamless patient care and accurate documentation.
- Assist with Chart Reviews: Review and edit patient charts for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and compliance standards.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Handle patient information with the utmost confidentiality and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks as needed to support the healthcare team, including scheduling appointments and managing correspondence.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required. Familiarity with medical terminology and EHR systems is a plus.
- Excellent typing and transcription skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with EHR systems and general computer literacy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- *Certifications:* Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS) certification is an advantage but not required.
- HIPAA certification is preferred
- **Minimum Technical and Work Environment Requirements:**
- **Internet Connection:**
- Primary internet connection with a minimum speed of **15 Mbps**.
- Backup internet connection with at least **10 Mbps**.
- Backup connection must be capable of supporting work during a power outage.
- **Primary Device:**
- Desktop or laptop equipped with at least:
- **Intel Core i5 (8th generation or newer)**, **Intel Core i3 (10th generation or newer)**, **AMD Ryzen 5**, or an equivalent processor.
- A minimum of **8 GB RAM**.
- **Backup Device:**
- Must meet or exceed the performance of an **Intel Core i3** processor.
- Must be functional during power interruptions.
- **Peripherals and Workspace:**
- A functioning **webcam**.
- A **noise-canceling USB headset**.
- A **quiet, dedicated home office space**.
- A **smartphone** for communication and verification purposes.
