About the role
- Gain hands-on experience in tax preparation, accounting, and bookkeeping while supporting the tax team
- Assist in preparing individual and business tax returns by gathering financial data, organizing documents, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Learn bookkeeping basics including data entry, reconciliations, and financial data integration into tax preparation
- Communicate with clients to collect necessary tax documents, clarify financial information, and provide updates on tax preparation progress
- Organize and maintain tax records to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and tax regulations
- Participate in training sessions, shadow tax professionals, and apply accounting and tax knowledge to real-world scenarios to develop practical skills
- Work up to 20 hours/week in a part-time hourly internship (January–May term)
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in college at Junior or Senior level
- No experience required; some bookkeeping or tax preparation experience preferred
- Attention to Detail
- Basic accounting knowledge, bookkeeping, and financial statements
- Willingness to learn basic tax concepts and compliance requirements
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of confidentiality and ethics handling sensitive financial information
- Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Time management and ability to prioritize tasks during peak tax seasons
- Familiarity with accounting software, spreadsheets, and data entry tools (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients
- Regular ability to talk or hear; specific vision abilities (close vision and ability to adjust focus)
