About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in the Crash Champions Skills Training Education Program (STEP), a hands-on apprenticeship pairing trainees with experienced professionals
- Learn manufacturer original specifications and industry-standard quality controls
- Create complete repair plans and perform vehicle disassembly and reassembly
- Repair plastic bumpers and minor panel dents
- Reshape sheet metal, apply body filler, and perform two-sided plastic repairs and larger panel damage repairs
- Identify structural damage and access repair procedures
- Set up and anchor structural repairs and perform three-dimensional vehicle-structure measurements
- Learn welding and joining methods, tools, and techniques
- Perform stud-gun and other metal-straightening work
- Set up and perform MIG welding on steel vehicles toward I-CAR Weld Certification
- Work with a Champion Mentor and complete daily instructional training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours a week
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to regularly position or move oneself to repair vehicles over and under
- Ability to effectively communicate and take direction from superiors
- Ability to read and understand a work order
- High School Diploma/GED preferred, not required
- No collision experience or training required; experience is a bonus
