About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Receive incoming requests for durable medical equipment items and services
- Obtain or validate information needed to provide correct items/services and meet funding source coverage requirements
- Review clinical documentation
- Verify and pursue appropriate physician orders based on eligibility
- Accurately enter information into patient records
- Communicate with referring facilities, provider offices, patients, and families
- Act as a liaison regarding DME items and services
- Handle a varied caseload covering all DME items and services
- Develop working relationships with hospital case management staff, primary care offices, and CoxHealth at Home teammates
- Work independently while following established protocols
- Collaborate with teammates to meet patients’ needs in a timely manner
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1 year healthcare or customer service experience
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and community resources
- Empathetic attitude toward sick and elderly patients
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize shifting caseloads with multiple time-sensitive needs
- Impeccable follow through
- Ability to work independently with access to reference materials, supervisors, and coworkers
- Medical terminology would be extremely helpful
- Working knowledge of insurance reimbursement would be helpful
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Flexibility and adaptability to procedural changes
