About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Research, write and update news stories for Charlotte’s only Spanish-language local newscast
Create relevant, important and memorable newscasts
Develop graphics for production by Design Department
Write Opens, Stories, and Teases
Work closely with Managing Editor daily on rundown decisions and live opportunities
Work closely with news team to create compelling news segments, and maintain high production standards
Work in the Control Room during broadcast to oversee presentation and changes in format

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bilingual, with excellent Spanish-writing skills
Strong writing skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration
Must stay abreast on current affairs, and have a wide-range working knowledge of general interest subjects
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Journalism or Communications preferred
Previous experience in local TV news
