About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct thorough on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory
  • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles safely on dealer client lots
  • Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; ensure accurate system entry
  • Inspect and document vehicle exterior and interior condition, tires, frame, glass, panels, seating, dashboard, mechanical components, and installed options
  • Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
  • Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features
  • Build trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
  • Educate clients on Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
  • Engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain active participation
  • Use data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency and territory productivity
  • Adapt to changes in daily appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage
  • Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports
  • Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and customer performance tracking
  • Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams to support client success
  • Contribute to process enhancement in a continuous improvement and Lean environment
  • Maintain production expectations and follow safety and health procedures
  • Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives
  • Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • At senior level, perform advanced inspections, mentor peers, support onboarding, and serve as a subject matter resource

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Level 1: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, or any level degree/certification beyond a high school diploma/GED, or 5 years’ experience in a related field
  • Senior level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience in a related field, or any level degree/certification beyond a high school diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in a related field
  • Minimal automotive knowledge preferred for Level 1
  • 0–1 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 1
  • 1–2 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 2
  • Previous vehicle inspection experience required for Senior level
  • Strong automotive knowledge covering body and mechanical systems required for Senior level
  • 2–3 years of automotive-related experience strongly preferred for Senior level
  • One year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended for Senior level
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes
  • Ability to conduct inspections accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems
  • Must reside in Los Angeles, CA
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
  • No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in future
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug test
  • Must follow Manheim inspection standards, safety and health procedures, and the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy
