About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Conduct thorough on-site vehicle condition inspections according to Manheim inspection standards
Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer client lots
Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; accurately enter data into systems
Inspect and document exterior and interior vehicle condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seating, dashboard, and installed options
Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features
Build trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
Educate clients about Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
Engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain participation
Use data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency and territory productivity
Adapt to changing appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage
Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports
Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and customer performance tracking
Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams
Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean process enhancement
Maintain production expectations and follow safety and health procedures
Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives and comply with Manheim inspection standards
Mentor peers and support onboarding and development of less experienced inspectors at senior level

Requirements

What you’ll need

Candidates must live in the Lincoln, Nebraska area
High School Diploma or GED required for Level 1
Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, or an alternative combination of degree/certification beyond high school/GED or 5 years’ related experience
Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ related experience, or an alternative combination of degree/certification beyond high school/GED and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ related experience
Minimal automotive knowledge preferred for Level 1
0–1 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 1
1–2 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 2
Previous vehicle inspection experience required for Senior Level
Strong automotive knowledge in body and mechanical systems required for Senior Level
2–3 years of automotive-related experience strongly preferred for Senior Level
One year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended for Senior Level
Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required
Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes
Must clear a pre-employment drug test
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in the future
