About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct thorough on-site vehicle condition inspections according to Manheim inspection standards
- Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer client lots
- Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; accurately enter data into systems
- Inspect and document exterior and interior vehicle condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seating, dashboard, and installed options
- Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
- Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features
- Build trust with dealer clients through consistent quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
- Educate clients about Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
- Engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain participation
- Use data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency and territory productivity
- Adapt to changing appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage
- Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports
- Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and customer performance tracking
- Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean process enhancement
- Maintain production expectations and follow safety and health procedures
- Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives and comply with Manheim inspection standards
- Mentor peers and support onboarding and development of less experienced inspectors at senior level
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates must live in the Lincoln, Nebraska area
- High School Diploma or GED required for Level 1
- Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, or an alternative combination of degree/certification beyond high school/GED or 5 years’ related experience
- Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ related experience, or an alternative combination of degree/certification beyond high school/GED and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ related experience
- Minimal automotive knowledge preferred for Level 1
- 0–1 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 1
- 1–2 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 2
- Previous vehicle inspection experience required for Senior Level
- Strong automotive knowledge in body and mechanical systems required for Senior Level
- 2–3 years of automotive-related experience strongly preferred for Senior Level
- One year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended for Senior Level
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required
- Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes
- Must clear a pre-employment drug test
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
- No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in the future
