About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Draft, review, and negotiate procurement contracts, including supplier agreements, vendor agreements, service contracts, and purchase orders
- Ensure contractual terms align with Coupa’s policies and legal requirements
- Improve contract management processes and implement best practices
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement processes and contract management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, operational, and practical procurement risks
- Resolve legal disputes
- Collaborate with procurement, compliance, security, finance, and senior leadership stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of procurement-related legal documents and correspondence
- Provide legal guidance on supplier performance disputes, contract breaches, and compliance matters
- Support general corporate, real estate, marketing, ESG, and subsidiary management matters over time
Requirements
What you’ll need- Law degree from an accredited university or equivalent foreign law degree
- Admission to a local bar and in good standing
- 5+ years of legal experience focused on procurement or commercial contracts
- In-house experience preferred
- Good business sense and experience advising business stakeholders on legal terms and transaction impacts
- Understanding of implementing and operationalizing sourced products or services
- Ability to partner with internal buyers and procurement stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Willingness to train other legal professionals and take on new responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to use data to measure results
- Customer-facing contracts, risk management, or compliance experience is a plus but not required
- Technology company experience is a plus
