About the role
- Architect the Vision: Define and execute the long-term roadmap for analytics engineering, data architecture, and BI, ensuring our data stack scales with the business.
- Drive Value: Translate complex business objectives into high-impact data models and self-service BI solutions that empower executive decision-making.
- Set the Gold Standard: Own the evolution of our SQL-based data modeling and warehouse optimization strategies to ensure peak performance and reliability.
- Scale with dbt: Lead the strategic adoption of dbt, championing modular design, rigorous testing, and comprehensive documentation across all data domains.
- Build Trusted Assets: Oversee the lifecycle of data transformations to ensure every asset is governed, reusable, and serves as a "single source of truth."
- Institutionalize elite engineering standards for code reviews, CI/CD, monitoring, and proactive incident management.
- Act as the primary point of accountability for BI outcomes, working alongside C-suite and VP-level stakeholders to prioritize high-value initiatives.
- Foster a data-driven culture by ensuring data assets are discoverable, well-documented, and championed across the organization.
- Communicate technical roadmaps, risks, and trade-offs to non-technical audiences with clarity and executive presence.
Requirements
- 12+ Years of Experience: Proven track record in Data/Analytics Engineering, with at least 5 years in a significant leadership role managing managers.
- Modern Stack Expertise: Expert-level command of SQL, dbt, and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks).
- BI Power User: Deep experience scaling enterprise-grade Tableau environments and fostering "governed self-service" cultures.
- Change Agent: You don’t just manage teams; you build them. You have experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.
- Business Acumen: The ability to link technical architecture directly to P&L impact and operational efficiency.
- Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
