About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently manage full-cycle accounting and client engagements for multiple nonprofit and for-profit organizations
  • Lead the month-end close process within 5–7 business days, maintaining an error rate of less than 1–2% in financial reports with zero material audit findings
  • Prepare accurate Journal entries, account reconciliations with zero unresolved variances, and monthly financial statements
  • Assist with: Budgeting, Forecasting, Audit preparation, Regulatory compliance, and strengthening internal controls
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by maintaining strong client relationships, responding to inquiries within 24 hours, and consistently meeting deadlines to ensure high client satisfaction and retention
  • Review the work of Staff Accountants, provide guidance and mentorship, and collaborate effectively across teams to share knowledge and best practices
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to reduce the month-end close timeline and enhance operational efficiency across client engagements.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience is highly preferred
  • CPA candidate or progress toward CPA certification is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with modern accounting software and financial management systems
  • Executive-level professionalism
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent customer service and client communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
