About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and manage a core team of 3–5 engineers
Drive project planning, sprint execution, technical delivery, team performance, and technical growth
Lead migration from legacy daily batch tasks to a high-throughput, real-time stream processing ingestion pipeline
Oversee infrastructure scaling, including Kubernetes adoption on AWS
Own PostgreSQL performance, index tuning, and database consistency under heavy load
Partner with Product Engineering to evolve the real-time auto-moderation pipeline
Integrate AI/ML models into core data workflows
Use ClickHouse and Grafana observability tooling to automate incident investigation and improve performance
Resolve critical bugs rapidly
Collaborate with cross-functional squads, product managers, and engineering leaders
Translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and execution plans

Requirements

What you’ll need

Direct people management experience or strong technical leadership, engineer mentoring, or virtual-team leadership experience
Desire and capability to manage 3–5 direct reports
Proven experience building, scaling, and monitoring production-grade backend and infrastructure applications
Strong experience in Python or another core language such as Go, Java, or C++, with motivation to develop primarily in Python
Deep hands-on relational database experience, specifically PostgreSQL
Experience with query optimization, index tuning, high-concurrency performance tuning, and data modelling
Hands-on Kubernetes management, deployment, and container orchestration experience
Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts
Hands-on AWS experience
Outstanding communication skills and ability to bridge technical execution with non-technical business stakeholders
Experience architecting or migrating legacy batch systems to real-time streaming data pipelines is desirable
Foundational knowledge or practical experience integrating AI/ML models into production data workflows is desirable
