About the role
- Part-time contract (~1 month; ~20 total hours) to develop a 30-minute slide deck and a related virtual hands-on activity
- Role: draft/write lessons as contextual business case studies, self-paced labs, and homework assignments for the Apex America Initiative
- Program: Apex America High School AI Championship — AI learning labs for U.S. high school students (ages 14–18)
- AI Learning Lab #1 topic: AI 101: Foundations, Frameworks, and Why Data is King; tentative date Monday, November 10, 7:30–8:30 pm ET
- Desired outcomes: understand AI basics and terminology, ML types, AI ethics, importance of data quality, and build confidence to engage further
- Key responsibilities: review and advise on proposed curriculum; meet with C1 Content Developer; develop business cases/lessons; audit and iterate content library; collaborate and peer review; participate in weekly/ad hoc meetings; deploy content on platform
- Compensation: rate is location-specific and based on factors including location, experience, education, and skill sets
- Location: remote; ideal candidate located in the United States
Requirements
- Experience in curriculum design (STEM/AI focus), technical writing, and editing
- Strong understanding of AI fundamentals (machine learning basics, GenAI concepts, data quality, and ethics)
- Experience developing or adapting curriculum for secondary education or youth-focused learning environments
- Experience working with high school learners with varied (including beginner) knowledge and skills
- Ability to create engaging, interactive learning materials incorporating gamification and problem-based learning
- Experience conducting domain and industry research to ensure accurate, current content
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify technical concepts
- Strong collaboration and peer-review skills; able to work closely with content developers and instructors
- Familiarity with equity and inclusion principles in curriculum development
- Comfort with remote collaboration tools and fast-paced start-up environments
