About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and deliver transportation planning projects such as corridor studies, multimodal plans, active transportation plans, transit studies, safety studies, and long‑range transportation plans
  • Serve as a primary client contact for public-sector agencies (municipalities, MPOs, counties, DOTs)
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines including engineering, environmental, GIS, and public engagement teams
  • Lead project schedules, budgets, and scope; ensure quality control and on-time delivery
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, grant applications, and planning documents
  • Support public engagement efforts including stakeholder meetings, workshops, and public presentations
  • Mentor junior planning staff and support their professional development
  • Contribute to proposals, scope development, and business development efforts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • AICP certification
  • 7+ years of professional experience in planning roles
  • Demonstrated experience managing transportation or mobility-focused planning projects
  • Strong understanding of public-sector transportation processes, policies, and funding
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Experience with MPO planning, DOT coordination, or federal/state transportation programs
  • Familiarity with multimodal planning, Complete Streets, safety planning, or active transportation
  • Experience supporting grant writing or discretionary funding programs (e.g., federal or state grants)
