About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- deliver complete and accurate drafting outputs, including drawings, shop details, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- ensuring high quality and on-time delivery aligned with customer-specific requirements
- Produce neat, accurate, and easy-to-follow fabrication documents that align with design calculations and manufacturing limitations
- Generate precise permit, approval, and erection drawings that comply with purchase order requirements and guide material installation
- Maintain tight project schedules, often accommodating last-minute changes or shifting priorities
- Communicate challenges and project needs to Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Detailers to ensure timely technical resolution
- Respond promptly to calls, emails, and inquiries from customers, design teams, or manufacturing
- Provide expert-level solutions for field issues and generate the necessary documentation to support customer service
- Continuously enhance productivity, accuracy, and technical expertise
- Support and enforce drafting standards used by production detailers
- Manage multiple complex projects through fabrication and erection phases, balancing overlapping individual responsibilities
- Ensure conformance with defined engineering processes and initiate corrective actions to maintain compliance with quality standards
- Lead initiatives to improve quality, drive innovation, and increase efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 2 years of experience in metal building drafting
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble Connect, and other detailing software
- Highly detail-oriented, with demonstrated experience managing multiple projects through fabrication and erection phases
- Adaptable team player with strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to document workflows, optimize processes, and follow detailed instructions
- Able to perform under pressure while complying with established procedures and guidelines
- Strong mathematical and trigonometric computation skills
- Proven ability to collaborate across all organizational levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC/technology tools
- Drafter IV: Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal building drafting
- Drafter V: Minimum of 7 years of experience in metal building drafting
- At least 5 years of experience as a checker or quality inspector for buildings of complexity levels 1–10
- Minimum of 10 years of experience using Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble Connect, and other detailing software
- Strong adaptability and effective collaboration in team-based environments
- Strong background in process improvement and operational efficiency
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
